Don't ignore your finances
If you are having money problems and cash-flow issues, ignoring the problem, hoping it will just go away is not the answer. YOU CAN take care of your finances yourself and prepare a foundation for future financial success. This work, of course, takes time and planning. It doesn't happen magically or through the use of some hidden secrets, just hard work and the right mindset.
Satisfaction
When you are satisfied there's no need to spend money on non-essential purchases. Trying to fill a void in your life with material goods will prove to be a costly mistake. In part because you are buying a product that can't adequately give you the satisfaction you desire. And it's a mistake because any "happiness" you do get from your recent purchase, won't last, causing you to spend more money, and the downward spiral takes hold.
Don't believe the hype, don't believe the commercials buying a product or service won't make you happier, wealthier, better looking and beautiful. People spend money because they want the excitement portrayed in the ads, but don't buy into the hype. Commercials do one thing and one thing only, sell you goods and services you could live without.
Set Goals
It's difficult to get out of debt and build real wealth if you haven't taken the time to layout a set of realistic goals and a roadmap as to how to achieve said goals. It's one thing to say "I want to be a millionaire," then to actually sit down, plan and strategize as to how to make it a reality. Bad things happen to those who are ill-prepared for financial setbacks.
Credit Cards
With the prevalence of credit cards, it is entirely too easy to overspend and overextend yourself. With mere paper money, you either have enough money to spend or you don't, with the wide availability of credit and credit cards, you can easily overspend and get into debt.
Only make a purchase when you have the money available. It's the most basic of financial tips, but it is still one of the best.
Forget About the Neighbors
If you are trying to "keep up with the Jones" by buying the latest and greatest items, you are in a contest you are going to lose. You're wasting your heard-earned money on toys and unnecessary material items, instead of focusing on you, and building your wealth and getting free of debt.
Instead of buying a new, hot item instead pay yourself. Maximize your savings when you can, you would be surprised as to how much money you can bank if you put a dollar, ten dollars, or a hundred dollars away. It can add up quickly.
